hi ash,
you can softmod this console, there are guides now for 4.1 and 4.2 and works fine.
you wont be able to use dvd backups tho - the drive dont read them, just a usd harddrive for games

Drivekey solderless chip is suposed to work for this for dvd backups and hdd games.
Let me if you have got any further - I have the same wii as you - black, serial leh5030xxxxx
